THE SHADOW OF A STILL LIFE

When nature breathes beneath stillness

Greenhouse, wood, moss, cotton, nylon, wire. 115 X 76 X 110 cm, 2022

The Shadow of a Still Life explores what remains alive beneath the surface of stillness.
The work captures the fragile moment when natural forms —moss, roots, and  white butterflies— begin to reveal the invisible wounds left by contamination and time.

Both moss and butterflies are among the species most affected by climate change. In this installation, they become quiet symbols of resilience and loss, suspended between life and disappearance.

Each element casts a trembling shadow, a living echo of what is vanishing. The shadows remind us that even in apparent stillness, nature continues to breathe, to signal, to remember.

This work is a reflection on the inner life of matter —a call to see, within silence, the fragile balance that connects our existence with that of every living form
